Warning: Spoiler Alert

Last week we were reintroduced to some familiar faces and some we had been unfamiliar with. The important take away from last week is that this new incarnation of Heroes appears to be on par with its predecessor. Or at least the first season and change of its predecessor. Another great take away was scope. Heroes Reborn takes the story of Heroes and widens the scope. This one feels bigger. How much so is still yet to be determined.

At the end of last week’s premiere, we find a young woman who seems to have the ability to control the northern lights. This is particularly interesting because that image is essentially the image for the show’s promotional shots. If the first version used the eclipse at its signature imagery, we can assume this sky of red was the motivation for this versions imagery. Beyond the imagery was the foreshadowing that this young woman cannot control the ‘event’ forever. Today we begin with that same young woman doubting her ability to control her power. With her, is a figure that is seemingly invisible but can be heard. Reassuring the young woman who the world will need her powers soon.

Quentin and Noah steal and hot wire a truck to make their exit from the Odessa incident from last week. Despite Quentin’s need for medical attention.

Luke and Joanne continue running down their ‘to do list’ in Noah’s car. Joanne much more enthusiastic about where to go next. Luke’s mind is clearly elsewhere trying to concentrate on a news story playing on the radio. Luke changes the station hoping to hear anything else beyond Evo news. The moment he changes the station, the power to the vehicle cuts out.

Miko continues her fight against the guards of the Yamagato building. The fight is more or less one-sided in Miko’s favor. Or at least not out of her control when Harris Prime shows up. He does not say many words but the ones he chooses carry some weight. He suggests that its time for Miko to surrender. She does not, but Prime gains the upper hand quickly.

Erica Kravid speaks to the board of Renautas about their imminent unveiling of their new program “Epic”. She speaks of the processor being online and ready for their roll out. Molly Walker of course, being the processor. Prime enters as the meeting ends to brief Erica on the episode downstairs with Miko. He identifies the sword as Hiro Nakamura’s sword.

Noah finally gets Quentin to a hospital and instructs him to claim he was shot with a nail gun in a construction accident. After Quentin leaves with the nurse, a doctor recognizes Noah. They make small talk and the doctor asks Noah to wait for a moment. The doctor goes to the nearest nurses station to call security. When he turns around Noah is gone.

Carlos Gutierrez, maybe the only Hero of the mask vigilante variety (or so they’ve hinted), heads out to run some errands. He comes up on three men ‘interrogating’ a woman physically. He is able to stay in the shadows as he watches one of the men toss the woman out of a window. This would normally spell the end for the woman in question, but as she plummets to the earth, she stops short. Floating then flying away. One of the goons tells the other not to worry, he tagged her. Hoping she will lead them to what he referred to as the “underground railroad”. The goons hear Carlos and he flees. He escapes narrowly escapes with the help of his priest and family friend, also an evo.

Luke and Joanne stop at a diner for lunch. Joanne is still very enthused about their next victim. Luke is showing signs of hesitation. To the point of suggesting they stop what they’ve been doing and just go home. Joanne persists and Luke caves, suggesting they head west to Los Angeles. While trying to cut into his steak, his knife begins to glow red. He drops it not knowing why his knife changed. They make their way to a depressing motel. Luke suggests she go check in and let him get some fresh air. He turns the corner and his hands begin to glow. Moments later as he asks the cosmos what is happening to him, his entire body glows until what remains resembles a sunburst.

Noah convinces a guard at gunpoint to take him to the hospital surveillance room to show him footage from June 13th. With limited cameras and functionality, Noah watches as he sees himself teleport as Hiro might and sees him identify Claire’s body. All of this he rejects at face value. Before he a Quentin make their escape, Noah watches himself bring in Molly Walker.

Prime continues to verbally prod Miko for answers. Answers she clearly does not possess. Building the moment, Prime pulls out a set of knives. He reaches for the butcher knife to cut Miko’s hand. She screams out as Ren walks by. He slips into the room which is just the distraction she needs to grab the butcher knife and cut off Prime’s hand at the forearm. It appears that Prime is some sort of android with regenerative abilities. Once his arm comes back another Prime stands up after we watch his face heal itself. The second is identified as a clone. Harris Clone as opposed to Harris Prime.

Using Quentin’s injury as a distraction (claiming he was shot, again), he and Noah get a drop on the men escorting Molly Walker. Molly is not exactly excited to see Noah. Whatever he did on June 13, must’ve been significantly bad as not even Molly wants to be in his presence. He mentions not remembering anything. She looks for a moment reading his mind and says there’s too much at risk. You shouldn’t have come, then she sprints the other way, hand restraints and all. As she turns the corner, she runs into one of the Harris’s.

Tommy wants desperately to at least feel normal for a moment. Despite his mother’s wishes he leaves for a party she explicitly forbid him to attend. He mentioned getting warning texts from an anonymous source. His mother follows him and finds Casper Abraham watching from his car at a distance. She puts the gun on him and demands he stay away, a notion Casper is not likely to subscribe to. She demands that Tommy get in the car.

Carlos in full vigilante gear gets to our flying woman and her associates before the goon can track her. The fight that ensues reveals that the goon also has powers. The fight does not go Carlos’ way. A beaten Carlos jumps out of a window barely escaping with his life.

Erica, who we find out is actually Dahlia’s mother, is about to address the media on the unveiling of Epic. Meanwhile, it takes four men to restrain Molly Walker in preparation or ‘uploading the processor’. Epic uses Molly to identify each and every evo on the planet. A sort of Cerebro for evos.

Anne, Tommy’s mother is desperate to get them out of the town they’re in. Tommy believes he’s supposed to be there. A destiny of sorts. She doesn’t say much other than they need to get out of this town. Tommy notices all the traffic signals are red. Anne makes an abrupt left turn reiterating their need to leave when their car is forcefully ‘T-boned’. The accident moves in slow motion and is followed by the dreaded, “To be continued”.
