Warning: Spoiler Alert

There’s a rhythm to a usual season for The CW series “Supernatural,” that started coming together midway through the second season, and used as the road-map from the third season onward. There’s one main story-theme per season and they’re augmented by what the fans refer to as “one-offs,” a tale using different characters and doesn’t progress the main storyline. However, six episodes into the series’ tenth season, the show’s veered off that road-map, and right now the show doesn’t have long-term story-arc for this campaign. Demon Dean got cured in episode three, the same episode that replenished Castiel’s grace. Crowley’s ensconced as the King Of Hell and wants to stay far away from “Moose and Squirrel.” (More on that pair later.)

That situation’s led to three straight “one-offs,” a result our resident Fangirl,” Samantha Jones, is likely unhappy with. The first one featured the return of an intriguing character, last week’s musical episode celebrated the show’s 200th episode including the return of Chuck Shurley.

The latest episode lacked the return of a favorite character, although “THE BOYS,” surrogate father, the late Bobby Singer figured into the plot. Perhaps the strongest aspect of the story was it zigged, when it seemed obvious that it would zag, keeping viewers on their heels throughout the hour.

We start off in front of a mansion in New Canaan, Connecticut and we see a butler in two maids standing in the foyer. The butler Phillip, tells the two maids that although their late employer Bunny LaCroix, treated them like family and compensated them well, they need to carry on. Within 24-hours, the family will descend on the mansion for the funeral and the reading of the will.

Phillip tells Collette, to go to the master closet and pick out a suitable outfit for Bunny to get buried in and he tells Olivia, she’s to clean all the toilets in the mansion. When she questions why she gets the less appetizing job, Phillip says seniority, Collette’s been there far longer.

Collette pulls out a blouse and skirt then goes to the jewelry box and picks a broach that matches the outfit, then she looks at all LaCroix’s strands of pearls, pulls one out of the box and tries it on in front of a mirror and smiles. Suddenly she hears noises and starts looking around, then footsteps and when she turns around its Bunny LaCroix back from the dead. The maid’s terrified and keeps backing away, but Bunny pulls the strand off Collette’s neck, the pearls fall to the floor and the maid slips on one and tumbles backwards over a third story railing crashing on a glass table, and dies instantly. Phillip runs into the foyer, looks up at Bunny and screams what have you done.

The next morning Dean’s working on Baby, as Sam brings over two tiny cups of instant brewed coffee. Dean tells him they’re headed to New Canaan, as some heiress left Bobby something in her will. Dean figures they’re the closest thing to next-of-kin Bobby had, so off they go.

They arrive in their scruffy clothes and Sam feels intimidated by the mansion asks if they should put on suits, but Dean says relax. He rings the bell and Olivia answers it, they explain they’re Bobby’s surrogate sons and Olivia asks if that means Mr. Singer isn’t coming. Dean says yes, that Bobby’s passed and condolences on her loss. She says the funeral’s over but the family’s relaxing in the living room so follow her.

They enter a room filled with people who resemble Mitt Romney’s family, Olivia announces them as Sam and Dean Winchester representing Bobby Singer. One woman asks if they’re from the Westchester Winchester’s and Sam says he doesn’t believe so, but the woman says they’re adorable. She introduces herself as Heady, and her sister Beverly, Bunny’s cousins. The older man with the younger wife’s Stanton LaCroix, Bunny’s brother and his wife Amber. Lastly there’s Bunny’s grand-nephew Dash.

The two women are quite attractive but far older than the Winchesters and they’re hitting on them hard. The butler asks to speak to the brothers privately. Phillip tells them this is a weekend affair and they’d likely feel very uncomfortable, Dean interrupts and says he knows which fork’s the shrimp fork, maybe. Phillip says he’s not demeaning them, just the contrary, the LaCroix’s are money-grubbing leeches and nasty people, so he gives them the envelope that’s left for Bobby and they leave. They open it outside and it’s a necklace with jewels on it, so they get it checked out at the pawn shop.

Pawnbroker tells them it’s costume jewelry, but discovers that the pendants actually a key, so they decide to drive back to the mansion to question Phillip about the lock it fits. Stanton and Amber are in their room and he’s saying she’s cheating on him, while she says he’s drunk. He then calls his wife a slut, just like his sister, whose wedding portrait’s in their room, Amber calls him out, asking how he can say that about his dead sister on the day of her funeral. Amber heads into the bathroom and Stan hears his name being called, he heads out to the hallway and screams, Amber runs out just in time to see Bunny’s husband Lance back from the dead, chopping her husband’s head off with a medieval type of axe.

When Dean and Sam arrive back at the mansion, Phillip answers the door and responds not well, when they ask how he’s doing. A man in a suit comes out and asks if they’d been at the house earlier that evening and identifies himself as Detective Howard from the local police. When they inform him they were, he informs them they’re murder suspects and they’re stuck there. They find out about Amber saying Lance’s ghost killed Stan, so Dean starts searching the house for cold spots. Sam will keep an eye on the family.

Dean’s upstairs exploring and the place’s like a museum, with stuffed and mounted animals on the walls and a suit of armor, that Dean checks by opening the helmet to make sure the ghost’s not in there. Sam walks into the room, containing Heady, Beverly and Dash, Amber’s being interviewed by the detective. Heady’s certain that Amber killed Stanton, while Dash’s convinced she’s innocent. Sam then takes him aside and asks why he believes she’s innocent and Dash tells him Amber’s got a tough time with Wi-Fi, she’d never pull off a brutal murder.

Back upstairs, Dean gets to where the police tape’s at, but sees a book on a shelf, that’s got the same emblem as the broach on its spine. He pulls back the book and the bookcase swings open, revealing a door with a keyhole that looks about the size of the key Dean’s holding. Howard brings back Amber and then tells Dash he’s next for questioning, as the pair pass each other, it’s obvious they’re sleeping together.

Dean puts the key in the lock and opens it, revealing a set of stairs some rope and an iron pole he grabs, he walks up the stairs and the rooms filled with cobwebs, old dolls, steamer-trunks, a table with a half-eaten sandwich on it that looks fresh, then he shines a flashlight on the floor and he see’s a woman’s legs and feet sticking out of a rolled up carpet. He hears a noise and it’s Olivia, she says Phillip trapped her up there as she wouldn’t lie to the detective about Collette’s body being in the same room they’re in wrapped in a rug. Dean asks if Phillip killed Collette, but Olivia says he just covered it up. Winchester says let me guess the ghost of Lance LaCroix killed her and Collette says no it was Bunny’s ghost.

The brothers meet up and Dean says they’re dealing with two vengeful spirits and asks where Phillip’s at, as if anyone’s got answers it’s him. He goes up, grabs a big wrench and opens the door with it, Phillip’s in there puttering around. Dean asks why he’s covered up Collette’s death and the butler says that Bunny deserved all the attention on the day of her funeral. Winchester says isn’t that nuts and Phillip responds its loyalty.

Sam walks into the kitchen sees a knife holder on the counter, then sees blood on the floor, leading out of the kitchen, he grabs a knife and goes to check out the situation. Phillip’s dead, with a knife stuck in his back slumped over a table and Sam texts his brother that, so whose with Dean? Somehow the creature realizes Dean knows pushes Dean across the room and all that remains is the suit and skin remnants. Dean calls Sam, it’s a shape-shifter.

They meet Olivia downstairs and she’s terrified but wants to help, so he asks if Bunny has silver-sterling dinner utensils, and the maid produces a case. Sam pulls out the silver, gives Olivia one, then Dean one. He then touches both Beverly and Heady with the silver and Dash as well, without any reaction, means the detective’s the shape-shifter, right? Well, he’s dead as well, drowned with his head in the toilet bowl.

Dash then accuses Sam and Dean of killing everyone, grabs Howard’s pistol and locks them in a room. Dean tries to use the silver knife to jimmy the lock but the knife bends, meaning it’s stainless steel, instead of silver hence no reaction. There’s a security monitor in the room they’re in and they see Olivia enter the room pick up Howard’s gun and tells the family she’s Bunny’s daughter, hidden in the attic all these years.

Sam finds a gun and shoots the lock off the door, he runs down to confront Olivia, while Dean runs to the Impala to grab silver bullets. Olivia and Sam start firing at each other in the kitchen, then both find a safe spot and she tells Sammy her story. Bunny cheated on Lance with a shape-shifter her father, but told Lance the baby’s his. He believed it until she got home from the hospital, as the shape-shifter showed up, killed Lance and took his place. But Bobby hunted him for years and tracked him down at the mansion and killed him. Singer wanted to kill Olivia, but Bunny begged him to spare her, he agreed as long as she got locked away in the attic, where she couldn’t harm herself or others. She made plans for Bobby to take care of Olivia after Bunny died.

She asks why Sam hasn’t taken the shot, then gets right in front of him and realizes he doesn’t have silver bullets in his gun, but Dean who comes up from behind does, killing her with the first then pumping five extra slugs in her.

As they drive home, Sam asks if Dean’s aggressive shooting was due to any Demon residue or the Mark Of Cain. Dean says no he’s feeling fine, it was his first shot since he returned to normal, so he made sure he did it right. Next week, the return of Castiel, Crowley and a brothel that features witches.

The Story Continues Next Tuesday Night at 9:00 pm on The CW.
